Project
Mover, GAS and Modular Game Feature Experimentation
Video coming soon
Overview
I wanted to explore the new Mover plugin available in Unreal Engine. This plugin is intended to become the successor to the current Character Movement Component and allows programmers to implement movement in a more modular way. Mover uses the Network Prediction Plugin, making it suitable for multiplayer.
As I have also been working with the Gameplay Ability System for a while, I wanted to implement movement controlled by GAS and Mover.
For this project, I wanted to reproduce the movement physics of a famous video game I love: Apex Legends.
The project also uses Game Features and Modular Gameplay.
What I built
- 01
Implemented base ground movement.
- 02
Implemented crouched movement, including sliding and bunny hopping.
- 03
Implemented lurch to enable tap-strafing.
- 04
Developed a component that enables Mover and the Gameplay Ability System to communicate and manage movement.
